Sourcepole has access to a wide variety of high-end Open Source products in the area of geoinformatics. We participate actively in the development and share our achievments to all users of open source software.

The Map Sever of the University of Minnesota is specialized on the processing of geodata for web-mapping applications. It supports numerous data formats and databases and provides charts as standard services.

OpenLayers is a JavaScript based Web-Mapping client. It combines standardized mapping sercies as WMS and WFS with commercial maps provided by Google, Yahoo or Microsoft.

Quantum GIS (QGIS) is a userfriendly desktop-GIS with a plugin-interface for extensions. It supports numerous bitmap- and vectorformats and provides editing functionality for shapefiles and for PostGIS data.

PostGIS extends the objectrelational database PostgreSQL with geo objects and functions. Based on this professional SQL-database the OGC Simple Features implementation provides an outstanding base for GIS Applications.

The GDAL library provides comprehensive functions for bitmap formats. It also contains the OGR Simple Features Library which provides access and converting tools for a large number of vector formats.

Linux is our choice as the server platform for nearly 10 years. Based on this stable operating system, scalable and high available solutions are provided on a future-proof platform.

MapLayers is a plugin for the Web Application Framework Ruby on Rails which was published by Sourcepole as Open Source. It allows for an easy integration of OpenLayers as a viewer and PostGIS as the backend.

MapFish is a Web-Mapping application framework consisting of JavaScript map components an a MapFish server. The backend is available as Java-, Python and Ruby implementation.

Thanks to the framework technology of Sourcepole, your geodata can be combined with map services of Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. We do also provide customer specific maps based on the worldwide dataset of OpenStreetMap.
